Our First Date

Bryce's Version: Lisa and I met in the summer of 2022 on Hinge, a dating app. It was my first day using it when I got a rose from Lisa. She told me she fell for my profile right away, so we set up our first date at a cozy Japanese restaurant in Chino Hills. During dinner, we played “Never Have I Ever,” where I quickly realized Lisa’s lack of life experiences might make her the winner! The date went so well that Lisa asked if I wanted to continue the evening with a trip to a nearby ice cream shop. We shared laughs, swapped stories—like the time I left my laundry sitting in the dorm laundromat for a week—and just had a blast. After ice cream, we ended up talking for hours. That night marked the beginning of so many amazing moments to come. The Real Story aka Lisa's Version Lisa was new to Hinge when she received Bryce’s one-and-only weekly rose—basically the app’s most exclusive gift. According to Bryce, his rose was about to “expire,” so he had to send it… but it was only Wednesday! Despite this sketchy explanation, Lisa was curious enough to accept the rose and see where things might go. They set up their first date at a Japanese restaurant in Chino Hills, but things got off to an odd start. For the first ten minutes, Bryce seemed way more fascinated by the parking lot than by his date. Lisa sat there wondering if he was expecting a surprise guest or just had a fear of eye contact. Later, Bryce swore he was just trying to overhear the hostess call his name, but Lisa was still a little skeptical. Once they finally got seated, Lisa got her first real look at Bryce, who promptly ordered what seemed like half the menu. Bryce also confessed to Lisa that he had also ate before the date too... The two decided to play “Never Have I Ever,” and Bryce’s score quickly spiraled. He confessed to several embarrassing college stories, including one about setting off the dorm fire alarm by microwaving ramen without adding water (rookie mistake) and another about abandoning laundry in the dorm laundromat for a week. Lisa couldn’t stop laughing. After dinner, the date kept rolling, they got ice cream, and they spent hours there, swapping stories and cracking each other up... and the rest is history!
