We met in Walt's kitchen in his small North Beach studio in San Francisco, CA in 2012. We both had moved to SF after college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where we (fortunately) did not meet throughout that time, despite having multiple close mutual friends. On a Friday night in the city, Walt's usual plan was to play games, drink beer, and eat cheap food with his favorite Swedes, Kris and Anton. Walt got a call from a friend from Cal Poly asking him if she could invite a few girls over to his house before hitting the town...he obliged. Lisa vividly remembers shaking hands in his kitchen and feeling an immediate connection. Walt caught her looking at him multiple times that night at 15 Romolo, the neighborhood bar we would frequent in our SF days. Although he relied on his friend Kris to remember Lisa's name, he asked for her number that night and we went on our first date two nights later.
We got engaged at Discovery Park in Seattle on September 9, 2018. Walt proposed mid chuck-it ball throw for Stella and caught Lisa for a surprise. She just thought he was saying lots of nice things for the hell of it. Discovery Park has been a meaningful place for us over the years here in Seattle--our place to find a slice of nature in the city and spend quality time together--and it was a perfect place to get engaged.
We are having our small ceremony on October 22nd in Positano, Italy and honeymooning immediately after. When we return we'll celebrate with all of you at our reception at Westward in Seattle on November 9th. We can't wait to celebrate with all of you!
