I met the love of my life 17 years ago. We immediately bonded over the essential topic, the one that unifies the most elegant and tasteful aristocrats in society. Of course, all you fine people know I am talking about Colorado Avalanche hockey. My eyes lit up, and my heart fluttered the instant she spoke to me. You never forget the moment you meet your best friend, and we both look back fondly on that night when fate brought two bantering, sarcastic kindred-spirits together. Destiny is the only way to describe our friendship and bond. God never let us truly settle for anyone else and gave us a chance to learn from our past mistakes; so, when this moment came, we were ready to dive into codependency headfirst.
When we were young, like really young, Lisa always wanted the cheesy proposal at an Avalanche hockey game. COVID put a wrench in my plans to do it in Colorado. So, I convinced the Arizona Coyotes to help me out, or rather failed to mention we were Colorado Avalanche fans and would be decked in Forsberg jerseys. They thought they were helping one of their own, but I managed to get “LISA WIRTH, WILL YOU MARRY ME” displayed on the jumbotron. The confusion and shock on her face was priceless. With a giant grin on her face, she said yes, and an arena of fans cheered us on. She wanted to be proposed to at an Avs game, and I never forgot that...never.
