We met on Hinge, a dating app, in January of 2020. After messaging for a bit, we met up for dinner, started talking and we haven’t stopped talking since. We actually talked so much during that first date that the waitress had to visit our table 3 times before we stopped talking to each other long enough for her to take our order.

There was a good amount of debate leading up to our engagement. We both knew it was time to get married, we already owned a house together and we went shopping together for rings. Krizia wanted the proposal to take place while we were on vacation and Lisa wanted the proposal to be a surprise. So Lisa let it slip to Krizia that she had planned the proposal for March of 2023, a ruse. Lisa then surprised her with a sunrise proposal during their Pillbox Hike in Hawaii on Krizia’s birthday. As all of us remember, a lot of things happened in 2020. We officially started dating a week before California went into lockdown. Since neither of us had any family nearby, we pretty much only saw each other for that first year. This led to us growing close very quickly as we spent nearly all our spare time together. In fact, when Lisa’s roommate got a cold, we were very concerned that it could be Covid, because this was before there were covid tests. In an abundance of caution, Lisa moved in with Krizia for a week just to be sure. We hadn’t been dating for very long at this point and we were both concerned that this might be too much pressure on the relationship. On the contrary, as the week came to a close we were both sad that Lisa was returning to her own place, which we took for a good sign. We connected on our first date in part because we both love to travel, but with travel restrictions in place, international travel became out of the question. Instead we traveled all around the Bay Area with Lisa’s dog Bluebell along for the ride. We eventually took even longer road trips, going to Zion, Seattle, and Monterey. We moved in together after a year and a half of dating and got engaged after nearly three years together.

Yes! We eloped on September 14th, 2023 in Paris, but we really wanted the opportunity to celebrate with our friends and family. So keeping with the traditions of the Covid era, we’re having a second wedding on our 1 year anniversary (almost, blame Krizia’s inflexible work schedule).
