How We Met

We met the most cliché way possible—on a dating app—but our first night together was anything but ordinary. He spilled a glass of wine trying to get away from a bee, and instead of being embarrassed, we laughed and talked for hours—about everything and even the strangest little things, like pulling and cranking the elastic in our kids’ pants to make them fit just right. Somewhere between the laughter and the stories, we both knew this was the beginning of something special.

Our Proposal

We had talked about forever for years, but somehow the timing was never quite right. He knew one thing for certain though — I wanted to be surprised, and I wanted it to be a night I’d never forget. For years, our anniversary tradition was celebrating at Treetops Bar, so on our third anniversary, I thought we were headed there for just another cozy date night. What I didn’t know was that he had been carrying the perfect plan all along. Tucked away at a secluded treetop table, just the two of us, I could feel his nerves as he stood up — only to kick the table and immediately sit back down as we burst into laughter. Moments later, the entire restaurant lost power. In the pitch black, he took his chance. He got down on one knee, opened the ring box, and my ring lit up, glowing in the darkness like it was meant just for that moment. With nothing but that light and our love surrounding us, he asked me to marry him — and I said yes.
