birds of a feather end up together

It was the end of the summer in 2020 when Davis arrived in the DC area. He hardly knew anyone, but a college friend living in the area invited him to an outdoor bbq to mingle. There, Davis met Lisa. Anyone knowing Davis could guess the icebreaker: birds! The two exchanged numbers with plans on going bird watching. Time passed and bird watching didn't end up happening. Both didn't think much about what hadn't happened. Soon after Christmas, Lisa got a random call from Davis. He refreshed the idea of the two going out together to go bird watching, and Lisa took him up on it. The two went out on what they both assumed would just be a good time without much potential. With the former true and the latter false, their first date lasted 8 hours. By the end of the date, both Davis and Lisa were crushing pretty hard. They proceeded to see each other everyday that week, and by the end of the week they decided to make it official. On their first date, they saw a Painted Bunting, a bird rare to the DC area. This individual bird stuck around the potomac for quite a long time, and to Lisa and Davis, it was a good omen that something rare, lovely, and lasting was to come. On valentine's day, Davis gifted Lisa a homemade painting of the Painted Bunting they saw, hoping that the omen would persist. On August 15th, the two got engaged in a little gazebo on the Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis. We are counting down the days until January 1st, and we are excited to share this special moment of our lives with you!
