One of my classic recommendations for some good ole NOLA cuisine with an atmosphere that feels like a "Mom & Pop" but not without class and style. Locals are the people who fill this place nightly so you know it's good! The Old Fashioneds are the best in the city if you ask me. Although allergies prevent me from enjoying it, the BBQ Shrimp is always my recommendation. I've seen it ordered way too many times and wishes I could just have one bite!
Looking for the classic brunch location with an indoor/outdoor option while also able to have a delicious latte? La Boulangerie is the perfect place. Lisa and I have taken a few pictures together while enjoying the street view of Magazine street and smelling the jasmine. See picture for a sense of the vibe.
Lisa's nostalgia from her beloved trips over the pond to the "motherland" (the land her mother is from - Ireland), is why she recommends this neighborhood neighborly bar. Whether you want to have a post-lunch beer or have an evening of casual conversation and Guinness (although they have a good selection of other brews), Finn's is the place to go. They are likely to have a soccer or rugby match playing on the tele. Even if they don't it's a spot to check out.
Ask me at any time where my favorite place to go is in NOLA to hear good music, dance the night away, and hop around to new scenes where you can do both of those and I will say FRENCHMEN STREET! From La Maison to d.b.a to 30/90, you are going to find music that ignites the soul and gets the hips and feet moving. If you know me and Lisa, you know we love to dance so if either one of us is recommending this you know you will have a good time.
Lisa and I "highly" recommend this "lofty" location. Gosh, the puns are fire (another pun). Hot Tin is a favorite of ours. This rooftop bar has a view of the Big Easy skyline that "tops" any other. Cocktails are classy and even the indoors space has an eclectic feel. If you go during the prime time in the evening - past 8 or 9 o'clock - you may have a short wait in line for the elevator. It's worth the wait.
This "lit" bar has not only all the brewskies that make up a good selection to sip but the kewl lighting during the evening/night hours make for an kozy atmosphere. Grab your friends and let them know the address. The spot speaks for itself.
Reputed as the "oldest structure used as a bar in the United States" this is a claaaaasssic spot to visit in New Orleans. Start here and then just stroll down Bourbon street... until you get to where Bourbon becomes... well "Bourbon"... then get off and explore all the actual great things the French Quarter has to offer. The point is: make this a first spot to grab a drink to make sure you've checked it off your list and then make your way into the downtown NOLA we all love.
