We both were working at Deano's Grill and Tapworks in Wichita, Kansas - Bry was a manager and I was a server trying to make extra money before PA school. We consistently argue about who was interested first. After both of us quit our jobs, we made it official... two months before I moved to California for school! For the first six months of being long distance, Bry flew out once a month to visit. Yes, he was THAT into me! He moved out to California February 2015 and the rest is history.
Bry and I had planned a quick trip in September to visit Zion National Park in Utah for a few days of hiking. We had been wanting to visit Zion for a really long time - we love our hiking trips! Bry picked out the hikes as he usually does and we were going to do the Narrows which I had been dreaming about for a long time. I packed our bags that morning and we headed out early to get started. We did an out and back hike so we were hiking upstream in thigh high water. On the way back out of the hike, the sunlight had changed the look of the canyons so I wanted a few more pictures. The lighting was incredible in a certain spot so Bry stopped and went to ask a couple to take our picture together. As he was walking back toward me for the photo, I noticed he had handed BOTH of our phones to the couple. As I am posing for the photo, I start to get irritated that Bry wouldn't stand right next to me so I turn toward him and he is down on one knee in the water! The first thing I say is, "I know you don't have a ring because I packed the bags!!!" Even after that, Bry still asked me to marry him. Later, he told me that he felt the moment was right regardless if he had a ring or not!
