While we absolutely love children, we’ve had to limit our guest list to include only children within our family. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to accommodate friends’ children. We appreciate your understanding and can’t wait to celebrate with you!

What should I wear?
Answer
For a summer Cocktail attire dress code, we recommend elegant yet breathable fabrics in seasonal colors—think pastels, florals, or soft bright hues -- and plenty of style!. Ladies dresses should fall below the knee with elegant necklines. Elevated (non-denim) trousers or jumpsuits are also welcome. Gentlemen can opt for a dress shirt with lightweight trousers or a light-colored suit with jacket. Please note that flip-flops and overly casual footwear are not appropriate for this event. The ceremony is in a Catholic church, so we ask that everyone dresses respectfully for the sacred setting.

What will the weather be?

The weather will be warm to hot, and potentially humid. Both the ceremony and reception have air-conditioning. Note that the reception is indoor/outdoor between a House, courtyard, and Conservatory.

Where is the ceremony?
Answer
St. Rita's Catholic Church is located in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia, about 30-40 minutes from the reception site to the west, and 20 minutes from downtown Washington, DC to the north, should you choose to go into DC proper. Old Town Alexandria is 8-10 minutes drive away, and is home to local and fine dining, the Waterfront (take a water taxi into DC!), and the Torpedo Factory art house.

Where should I park? (Ceremony)
Answer
Park in the large lot located behind the Church. Note this is directed, one-way traffic. When facing the Church, the entrance is to the left. You'll notice spaces as soon as you cross over the sidewalk - those are okay to park in. The larger lot is located behind the Church to the right, behind an open gate. Do not park in the spaces in front of the apartments across the street from the Church as those are reserved for residents.

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive at St. Rita's by 2:30pm on August 8 in order to be seated and settled by the time our wedding begins at 3:00pm.

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?
Answer
We kindly request that guests refrain from taking photos during the ceremony. We’ve hired a professional photographer to capture all the special moments, and we want everyone to be fully present during this sacred time. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation!

Where is the reception?
Answer
The Birkby House is located in downtown historic Leesburg, Virginia, about 30-40 minutes from the ceremony site. Parking is available behind the building or in a free, covered garage across the street. The grounds include an old-style house, brick courtyard, and conservatory (heels okay!) Leesburg is full of family-owned restaurants and stores in a charming historic setting. It's centrally located to the Dulles airport, Virginia wineries, cultural sites & museums.

Will there be a shuttle between events?
Answer
No shuttle has been secured between sites. Out of town guests will feel more comfortable renting a vehicle or carpooling with familiar guests. If you'd like support coordinating a carpool, please contact either Lisa or Trevor and we can connect you.

You have 2 great options: (1) Located behind the Birkby House is a large open lot, called Liberty Street Lot. How do I communicate dietary restrictions?

As you RSVP for the reception, you will be asked about dietary restrictions. Please include as much information as possible so that we can communicate to the catering team.

To be determined! We are still finalizing the full schedule, but we can estimate around 9:30pm

Have you reserved a hotel block?
Answer
Yes! We have 2 blocks at nearby hotels. Check the "Hotels & Travel" page for booking links. There are also several Air BnB/VRBO options and other hotels in the area should you prefer a different experience for your stay.
