They've got the best Chicago dog north of the state line, but the menu doesn't stop there. Keep in mind, this joint closes inexplicably early—9pm on Fri/Sat and 8pm on weeknights.
One of our most frequented breweries. If you like IPAs, look no further than the Flavorwave. If you like mesmerizingly funky artwork, look no further than the walls. If you like food trucks, down a pint here then head down the street to Bauhaus—another fantastic local brewery—where there's almost always someone slangin' grub from a four-wheeled kitchen.
Yes, the food truck place! But a brewery first and foremost. And a darn good one at that. With a sizable outdoor patio and front row seat to the occasional passing train, this spot is a dog-friendly beer haven that is sure to please.
If you're ever in the mood for some live music, hit up 331 Club!
A go-to neighborhood spot. They have Hamms on tap as well as better-than-expected bar food. They have bingo on Saturdays at 1:30 and Sundays at 5:30. You might even see us there (on Sunday at least. We will have other things to do on Saturday).
Gai Noi opened in summer of 2023 and it quickly rose to the top of our "favorite restaurants in the city" list. Parking isn't the easiest, but the food is worth a few laps around the block. Our favorites: Thai Basil Wings, Green Curry & Jalapeño Wontons.
A walk across the Stone Arch will give you a lovely view of the skyline, not to mention a head-on perspective of St. Anthony Falls. Unfortunately it will be under construction while everyone is in town, but it's gorgeous during the day and magical at night with glowing buildings underscored by sounds of rushing water, so still worth checking out if you've got time. There are cafes and bars on both sides of the river in case you need a little pick-me-up along the way. With numerous bridges both upriver and downriver, you can stretch a looped walk to almost any length you desire.
For food-on-a-stick, informational exhibits on fishes of Minnesota, medieval style turkey legs, totally safe carnival rides, mind-boggling art projects, a butter princess, and a warehouse barn dedicated to the Miracle of Life, nothing beats the world famous Minnesota State Fair. If you come to town early or end up sticking around after the wedding, definitely consider swinging by. The people watching alone is worth the price of admission.
If you're looking for a relaxing and delicious way to start your Saturday morning, check out the Mill City Farmers Market. Theres a mix of fresh produce and some food trucks/food stands in case you get hungry. It's right on the river so you could easily tie in a lovely walk if you're in the mood.
Best breakfast sandwiches in the city (according to many, including the New York Times)! There can be a wait on the weekend mornings but they're worth the wait.
Delicious food with a delightful patio located smack dab in the middle of Northeast Minneapolis. Lots of other great bars and restaurants in case you have to wait for a table and want to grab a drink somewhere else.
One of the newer spots in Minneapolis! It's a menu-less cocktail bar with absolutely killer drinks. You tell the bartenders what you like and they'll create you something incredible. Just keep in mind, their food menu isn't large so don't go too hungry.
