The first time Caleb and I crossed paths was December 31st, 2018. We were at a New Years’ Eve party, but neither of us spoke to each other. Then, during spring break of 2019, we officially met when our mutual friends set up a weekend trip to the beach to take a break from the school semester. We spent nearly the entire summer together and became close friends.
During the fall of 2019, I moved back to College Station for school, and Caleb stayed in SETX to finish his degree at Lamar. We stayed in touch, and over the next semester we became really close. Some nights we’d talk on the phone for hours, and Caleb even came to visit me a few times. Eventually, our feelings for each other grew, and on December 12, 2019 he asked me to be his girlfriend.
We spent the next year of our lives navigating our new relationship. Life flew by, and our one-year anniversary was coming up. So, we set up a day trip to celebrate. We planned on going to Galveston to eat dinner then we would head to Moody Gardens to see the Christmas lights. When I got to Caleb’s house that morning, I had a feeling he was going to propose, I just didn’t know when or where. Then he gave me a beautiful letter he had written for me for our first anniversary together. At the end of the letter, he informed me of a scavenger hunt he had set up for me. At this point, I knew it was coming soon. He created clever riddles that took me across town to several places that were special to us. At the end, he was on his knee and he asked me if I would be his wife. Of course, I said yes, and now we our counting down the days until our wedding!
