The Hollywood Sign is arguably one of the most famous landmarks in all of Los Angeles. The view from behind the sign is spectacular, although it can be a bit of a long journey. Be sure to bring hydration and snacks! It is located in Griffith's park so you can make a day trip out of this if you'd like.
Great views of the city and interesting observatory museum. Every once in a while we (slowly) bike up this mountain ending close to the observatory itself. Cathy's Point is where we got engaged! There is a full park associated with the observatory (Griffith Park) that also includes the Hollywood Sign.
Located very close to the Skirball Cultural Center (the wedding venue), the Getty is a very pretty combination of a garden and museum. There are no entrance fees but you will have to pay for parking. If this kind of stuff interests you you can also consider checking out the Getty Villa. It's close-ish and just as pretty.
The closest spot for us to visit for a quick dose of the sand and sun. One of our favorite things to do is to bike from our apartment to Santa Monica then follow the Marvin Braude path down South to Redondo Beach. You don't have to go quite as far though. The pier itself is worth a quick visit simply for how iconic it is.
Looking for a challenge, work out, great view, all of the above? This hike is almost a thousand feet of stairs plain and simple (if you get tired there is also a winding way up and down that is a bit easier). Good luck those of you that give this a shot.
Beautiful garden with all sorts of different habitats housing all sorts of different flowers. A bit of a drive but definitely do-able. While you're there try out some of the fantastic Chinese food they have in the area.
