The story of how we met is a funny one. Much like the rest of life, when you're going through it, it seems random and chaotic, but when you reflect on the past, you realize that each event is just a chapter in a story. In this case, our chapters managed to weave our two lives into one. The best place to start our story is when we were in college. Even as a young child, Michael had always known that he wanted to become a doctor. After he graduated from Johns Hopkins, his advisor suggested he apply to a brand new program at George Washington University (GWU) while applying for medical school. Michael grudgingly accepted, totally unaware that he was about to meet the love of his life, and was accepted to medical school that year. Michelle, on the other hand, started college majoring in International Relations. It wasn't until her third year that she decided she didn't want to be a lawyer and changed her major to pre-med. But as we all know, once Michelle sets her mind on something, she's pretty unstoppable. Coincidentally, she was also advised to enroll in the same program at GWU before applying to medical school. Now in the movies, this is where the guy meets the girl, he sweeps her off her feet, and they fall madly in love. And they did! Just not at GWU. At best they were acquaintances that had secret crushes on each other. Fast forward 5 years, both of them are in medical school living separate lives. Out of the blue, Michael one day messages Michelle on social media, they talk, and BOOM - the start of a whirlwind romance. Life is funny, it starts off random, directionless. But if you look back, it all makes sense. Between these two, they have over 20 years of school, and only 1 was together. Michael used to always wonder if attending GWU was worth it. Michelle used to think if changing careers was really worth all the extra work. But if you ask Michael today, he would say "Well she said yes didn't she?" Unclear if it's worth it to Michelle to this day...
