Our very first date he went all out. Roof top view with a fire pit. But I was so cold , it was Jan and so windy, especially up there, so we went inside to sit & talk, and back outside 1 more time before we left for dinner. I wanted him to kiss me. He looked like he wanted to kiss me but he didn’t lol. We went to dinner at Cafe Dupont across the street. We went to a comedy club afterwards. For the end of our date we went on a drive to a beautiful overlook of the city at night. Then last year for our anniversary it was so cold and so windy again and with covid & saving money - we used a gift card to go to Perry’s. By December 2021 so much had happened non stop by then and life drama, deaths, car wrecks, stuffs, etc. He told me then he had the ring since October and he had plans and everything kept getting messed up and he was so upset. We both reassured each other it’s ok, we aren’t going anywhere, when it happens it happens. Around Christmas my Mom had a stroke. So in my mind, I just accepted it was definitely going to be a while until he asked because life just keeps happening, hahaha. And I really was ok to wait for the “right time”. And I was so so so so so not expecting it any time soon. Our anniversary date in January 2022, I had asked if we could go back to the first date restaurant because they have yummy beignets. So on the way he stops and takes me up to that rooftop restaurant area again. I’m freezing!!! Thin dress, I don’t have a decent coat cuz ….it’s Alabama, lol. And of course the wind is crazy. Forget the curls I worked hours on hahaha. The fire pit is almost uncontrollable. Some people are out there but not too crowded. We are trying to look at the view but I’m freaking out because I can’t see with my hair all over the place and it’s cold and he grabs me and says “Linna. Linna. Linna.” To get my full attention. “On our first date I wanted to kiss you right here but I knew it was too soon. Ever since I have wanted to come back here and kiss you.” We kiss. It’s all sweet. I’m literally shaking I’m so cold. I’m like ok can we go back inside now? Please?!? You kissed me. You made it happen. Now can we go? And he says “well there’s one more thing I wanted to do…” And that’s when he gets on his knee and I realize what’s happening. And so much is a blur now. But I just remember being on my knees on the cold ground in front of him, the world disappeared, I wasn’t cold, he asked me and I was crying and saying yes. Pure shock. Pure surprise. I had no idea at all. Because in my mind it was going to be a long time. He told me he was tired of waiting. Life isn’t going to stop. And he wants to start his life with me now. I’m still very much in shock. And the ring box. Oh. My. Goshness. It’s green. Has a message on it and plays our song!!! The ring itself…he beautifully designed an emerald ring with Celtic knots on the side. Everything about the proposal was beyond my happiest dreams.
