We met at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival. Just two trumpet nerds, hanging out until the wee hours of the morning, walking around the beautiful campus, watching comedy specials, and talking about absolutely everything. I think we both knew this was the start of something special. We started dating after the festival ended, and, seven years later, we are still just two nerds who love hanging out with each other.

We had an unusual proposal in that we planned it together - no surprises here! Alex had known for quite some time that he wanted to marry Anne. Anne is the kind of person who likes to take her time with decisions, and it wasn’t until a nighttime conversation late July of 2023 when it became clear Anne was also ready to make the leap. We talked it over, and decided to propose at the same time. We picked out rings together, went to our favorite park here in Charlotte, and each got down on one knee to propose. Of course, we both said YES! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you!
