Like any modern love story, we met the good old-fashioned way… online dating. After a couple of months of witty banter and meme-sharing, we finally went on our first date in October 2023. Dinner at Plaza Azteca, ice cream, and hours of chatting at a local park sealed the deal. Soon we found out that we were actually at a fair amount of the same events growing up: we both attended M State in Moorhead, MN at the same time, attended some of the same concerts, and sporting events. Somehow, we never crossed paths. Clearly, God was waiting for the perfect time. We braved the long-distance life for a while, burning gas and racking up miles every weekend just to see each other. On January 1, 2024, Josh made it official and asked Ali to be his girlfriend. A pretty great start to the new year, if you ask us! Eventually, we got tired of the commute. Ali started a job in Fergus Falls in September 2024 and moved to a cute lil' farmhouse just outside of town that November. Josh moved in soon after. In December 2025, we bought our first home and we’ve been living in small-town bliss ever since. We love each other’s families, share the same faith, morals, values, and interests, and we’re basically each other’s built-in best friend. We're still not sure who swiped first, but we’re sure glad someone did.
Josh brought Ali back to where it all began, Plaza Azteca, for a sweet little day date. After lunch, they stopped by the park where they had first spent hours talking. While they were admiring how much the space had grown since that first date, Josh casually said, “Oops, I forgot my phone—be right back.” Moments later, he nervously returned, looked at Ali and said, “Can I ask you something?” Then he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Obviously, the answer was yes!
