In early 2016, Lindsey was working for Sea Island's Sales & Information Center, when she happened to look up from her desk to notice "the new guy" walk in for his first day on the job. Jokingly, Lindsey turned to a co-worker and said "I'm gonna marry that guy some day." Little did she know... It took a few weeks, and a lot of pursuing on Lindsey's part but she finally got Wes' attention after a random office conversation about Disney characters of all things. From then on, he was hooked!
On September 7th, 2020 (Labor Day) we were recovering from a long night of celebrating Wes' graduation for his Master's Degree at his parents' beach house rental. We woke up, had some coffee, and Lindsey decided to go home to check on the dogs (I ruined the initial plan by doing this...oops!). After a couple of hours at home, Lindsey made it back to the beach house. Almost immediately, Wes asked if Lindsey would walk with him down to the beach to see how crowded it was before we loaded up to make the trek down with the whole crew. Not a thought to it, we just started walking. We approached the trail to the beach through the sand dunes, and out of nowhere a woman runs behind the dunes. Thinking nothing of it, we continued walking when the woman pulled her shorts down to "use the restroom." Wes was MORTIFIED, Lindsey couldn't stop laughing. We pretended to look at the flowers while we waited for this stranger to finish and, once she did, we continued walking. We made it a few more feet, when she began to remove her shirt... Again, Wes was mortified and Lindsey was still crying from laughter. Wes proceeded with "this is such a disaster" as Lindsey nudged him to keep walking to ensure we wouldn't see any more of this woman than we already had. We finally made it past the dunes and onto the beach, when Lindsey said "looks pretty quiet to me, let's go" and turned around to head back to the beach house. After taking only two steps, Wes said "uhh, Lindsey", and with a quick turnaround Lindsey saw him down on one knee. There were no words, just mass amounts of joyful tears. Ten minutes later on our way back to the beach house, Lindsey realized she hadn't said anything, and shouted "YES! Did I say yes?" Perfect proposal as far as we're concerned!
