Although this is becoming pretty typical with our generation, we aren't too thrilled to tell people we met on a dating app. Stewart almost passed me up on accident but the rest is history! Our first date was lunch at HG Sply in Fort Worth which continues to be a favorite of ours.
We originally had "plans" to meet Andria and Brandon, Stewart's sister and brother-in-law, out for a nice dinner in downtown Fort Worth. Stewart and I went out a little beforehand but instead of proceeding to the Reata as I expected, we drove north out of downtown and I started to wonder where in the world we were headed. During our premarital counseling there was supposed to be a "surprise date" that he planned for me; he said we had some time to spare and this was part of that date. We pulled up to a small parking lot near the Trinity River, along part of the path where we like to ride our bikes. He acted like we were just going on a stroll but I could tell was walking with a destination in mind. After a couple hundred yards and plenty of time for me to start shaking, he led me over to an area set up with a blanket, table, flowers and a bible with "Lindsey Slack" engraved on the cover. The backdrop was the Fort Worth skyline and the most beautiful sunset we could have asked for despite the rain that had been predicted. He said some beautiful words and got down on one knee; I couldn't have said yes any quicker but later couldn't remember if I even answered the question! He had our families waiting to celebrate with us at HG Sply afterwards. The evening was perfect.
