Rewind to late summer of 2016... think Joe T's margaritas with friends, football tailgating, and spontaneity at every corner. We were both 24, and marching to the beat of our own drums. I was happily back in Texas living in Houston at the time, and Ryan was in Fort Worth always on the go. We met through mutual friends that September at a TCU / Arkansas tailgating party (Renfro style!) and the conversations about music and travel and common ties stemmed from a few ice-cold beers and the laughter hasn't stopped since then. It was like I had known him for years... all that time growing up so close in Keller and Fort Worth, similar friend groups, even both attending Texas Tech University at the same time, and our paths hadn't crossed yet. YET! We believe in miracles and serendipity, 100%! Soon after we made it official, AKA Moms and Aunts approval on both sides... I had the chance to move to DFW and we moved in together. Our first apartment on 7th Street above the beloved Chuy's was home to us for a couple of years and housed so many memories. And lots of Mexican food. We adopted Reba & Ginger and they are the best doggers in the world. Cosmo and Milo now had puppy pals, we had a zoo at that point! Flash-forward to March 24th, 2020, pandemic central. We were on lockdown, and our love grew even more! Ryan proposed in our loft apartment near Magnolia with Marvin Gaye in the background and it was such a special moment! It was the easiest YES of my whole life! Cats, dogs, chickens too... the Coates Family farm was underway! As we began to prepare and buy a house, our plans changed a bit and our hearts grew so much bigger! God surprised us with the best blessing ever, our son, Wyatt Hayes Coates, who join us Earth-side on September 4th, 2020. Just a month shy of our 4-year anniversary. He has made us whole and given us a perspective on life that is irreplaceable- he made us a WE!
