WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!

We met at work! Rodney was a radiology tech and I am a nurse anesthetist. One of his first days in the OR, he came into the spine room I happened to be working in. He said I was the first person to talk to him and welcome him. We struck up a conversation and soon became friends. We were both in relationships at the time so didn't have any romantic intentions. Later, Rodney had transferred to the cardiac cath lab and interventional radiology and even though we saw each other less we still tried to catch up passing through the halls. On one occasion he happened to come sit with me in the cafeteria and noticed I was upset. We didn't talk about it at the time, but later realized we were now both single. A little time passed and one night out of the blue he reached out to see if I wanted to hang out. I don't think either of us had any idea what would happen, but from that night on we were inseparable!

Well, something good came out of 2020 after all! We had planned to take a family vacation to Mexico, but due to COVID changed plans and went to Tablerock Lake. Rodney had already ordered my engagement ring not really knowing when he was going to propose, but the day before we left on vacation he received a phone call that the ring had come in. He picked it up, called my parents, and went to get approval to ask for my hand in marriage. He had hid the ring in his tackle box knowing that was one place I would never look! We rented a boat one day out on the lake and that morning he told his daughter, Malia, that he was going to ask me to marry him on the boat and they came up with a plan. Unfortunately, it rained most of the day and his plans changed. That night, right before we were leaving for dinner, he gave Malia a heart necklace and bracelet so she'd have some special jewelry to wear. Then...he looked at Malia and asked her if she thought I should have something special as well. Before I knew it he was down on one knee with the most beautiful ring in front of me. I think I blacked out because I honestly don't remember what all he said, but of course I said YES! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you. Hope to see you in May!!!
