FAQs

Question

Where should we book a room?

Answer

You’ll find a list of recommended accommodations in the Travel section of this website. We strongly suggest booking your stay as soon as possible — late September is a busy time of year in this area, and hotels fill up quickly. Once you’ve booked, please let us know where you’ll be staying so we can keep everything organized for the weekend. And if you run into any issues or need help, we’re always here.

Question

Are children allowed?

Answer

While we love your little ones, our venue has limited capacity, so we are planning an adults‑only celebration. However, we know some of our guests will be traveling long distances with their families. If you’re coming from outside New England and need to bring your children, please contact us — we’ll do our best to help where we can. Here’s a quick list of kid‑friendly things to do near the wedding venue on Sunday (also listed in the "Things to do" section): 🐋 Whaling Museum — open Sundays, super fun for kids https://www.whalingmuseum.org/ 🐘 Buttonwood Park Zoo — open Sundays https://www.bpzoo.org/ 🌊 Fort Taber Park — beach + big open space https://explorenewbedford.org/listings/activities-and-entertainment/fort-taber-fort-rodman-park/ 🚶‍♂️ Harbor Walk — easy stroll + boats https://www.savebuzzardsbay.org/places-to-go/new-bedford-harbor-walk/ 🎨 Art Museum — open Sundays https://newbedfordart.org/ 🎮 PLAY Arcade — open Sundays, great indoor option with retro games + kid‑friendly food (All ages UNTIL 8pm - 21+ after 8pm) https://www.playarcadenb.com/ 🧩 Mass Escape (Escape Rooms) — open Sundays, best for older kids/teens; fun group activity https://www.massescaperoom.com/ 🍦 Treats nearby: Acushnet Creamery, Brick Pizzeria, DNB Burgers All of these spots are approximately 5–10 minutes from the Rotch‑Jones‑Duff House.

Question

What’s the dress code?

Answer

Our celebration is semi‑formal. Think cocktail dresses, dress shirts, suits, or anything that feels polished but comfortable for an early fall New England evening.

Question

What time should we arrive?

Answer

Please plan to arrive about 15 minutes before the ceremony so you can park, get settled, and find your seat. We’ll begin right on time.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

September on the Massachusetts coast is usually mild and beautiful, with temperatures typically in the 60s–70s. Evenings can get cooler, so a light layer is a good idea.

Question

Can I bring a plus‑one?

Answer

Your invitation will indicate whether a plus‑one has been included. If you’re unsure, feel free to ask — we’re happy to clarify.

Question

Is the ceremony and reception at the same location?

Answer

Yes! Both the ceremony and reception will take place at the Rotch‑Jones‑Duff House. No need to travel between venues.

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Official answer coming soon!

Question

What is there to do in the area?

Answer

We’ve put together a list of family‑friendly and adult‑friendly things to do near the venue — all within 5–10 minutes. You’ll find it in the "Things To Do" section.

Question

Will food and drinks be served?

Answer

Yes — we’ll be serving a full dinner along with drinks, dessert, and plenty of celebration.

Question

What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?

Answer

Just let us know when you RSVP. We’ll make sure you’re taken care of.

Question

Are you registered anywhere?

Answer

Having you with us is what matters most. Your presence is the most meaningful gift we could receive. Our home already has everything it needs to function like a semi‑responsible adult household. Instead of a traditional registry, if you’d still like to gift something, we’d be thrilled with contributions to our future honeymoon (details coming once we finally pick a destination) or our home‑improvement fund. Your presence truly is the best gift… but upgrades and adventures are pretty great too. You can check out the "Registry" section of this website.

Question

I have a question that isn’t answered here.

Answer

Send us a text anytime and we’ll get back to you. We’ll also update this section as we go, since chances are someone else may be wondering the same thing.
