We’re warned that nothing good happens after midnight. Without debating the platitude’s truth, it is certain that great things can happen just prior. Take, for example, the final moments of March 31, 2018. That’s when Lindsey and Nathan first met in a passing encounter outside of Scruffy City Hall — one of them departing, the other just arriving (take your guess). As Knoxville’s storied “yacht rock” cover band, Smooth Sailor, continued to play inside the venue, from outside on Market Square you could just make out the muted hum of Little River Band’s “Reminiscing”. In retrospect, the soundtrack could not have been more fitting. While in the moment both thought it was but a brisk introduction, they were in fact talking about a lifetime plan. The six years that followed have brought their fair share of successes and failures; adventures, from Townsend to Tallinn, Ljubljana to Laramie; new friends found and loved ones lost. Degrees were earned, though the most valuable lessons were learned far from the classroom. Marathons were run, both in metaphor and the literal 26.2. In growing together, Nathan and Lindsey grew as individuals. It all required mutual accountability, understanding, hard work, and a whole lotta love. At long last, their day is finally here, and Lindsey and Nathan are so excited to share it with you. Thank you for being part of the story.
