Mesa Verde National Park
A MUST if you have never been. This unique National Park known for the preserved Puebloan cliffside dwellings is only 45 minutes from the cabin. Learn about Native American culture in the museum, take a tour or two of the different cliffside dwellings, drive the scenic loop for panoramic canyon views. As with any national park as of recent, advanced reservations is recommended. Insider tip: ask for Ranger Joe if he is available for a cliffside dwelling tour for an educational walk yet part comedy show.
Telluride
About a 45 minute drive from the cabin. Telluride is a classic Colorado mountain town with cafes, shops, and a free gondola ride to Mountain Village! For those interested mountain bike rentals and downhill trails and ziplining can be found in Telluride as well.
Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad
This is a full day option for those who are using this wedding as a dual vacation excursion. The train station is 1 hr. 15 minute drive from the cabin and you may choose to do part (5 hour round trip) or the full trip (10 hours including a two hour layover in Silverton, CO). The train weaves through the mountains going past rivers, and sometimes literally cliffside which provides incredibly scenic views. Due to its popularity I would highly recommend ordering tickets in advance if you plan on doing this because they may sell-out.
