Our Story

We met in August of 2016 at a young adults church event at our friends, the Pierce's, house. But that was not the first time we saw each other. Earlier that year, we were in the same calculus class at Lakeland Community College. We recognized each other right away when we saw each other at Leroy Community Chapel that first Sunday because we had seen each other several days a week for several months, although, we had barely spoken during that time. (He maybe made me a little nervous because I may have thought he was cute, but that's beside the point). After we met in August, we quickly became friends. I was more comfortable with him than I had ever been with anyone before. On November 26 over a cup of hot chocolate, he told me he liked me, and he wanted to know if I felt the same way. Of course I did, so our relationship become officially unofficial as we learned together, grew together. and grounded our relationship in Jesus Christ. On January 16, 2017, our relationship became officially official! The Lord has blessed us in so many ways that have allowed Joshua and me to learn to love each other well, and thankfully, this is not where the story ends.

The Proposal

I have never been so oblivious or surprised in my whole life as I was on June 14, 2018. I have always been the person to find the presents (on accident, I promise) that my mom had hidden away for Christmas. Myself, my family, and Joshua were kicking off our vacation in the best way by driving on the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway. After trying for an hour to find the perfect mountain overlook to "take family pictures," we decided to get out of the car at the next stop. I was so excited about seeing the majesty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Once we had gotten to an overlook, Joshua told me to look at a crooked tree on top of a mountain far far in the distance, so I replied "There are a million trees. How am I ever supposed to know which one is crooked?" When he didn't reply, I turned to see him on one knee, and he asked me to marry him! To which I replied, "Are you serious?" several times until I finally believed him and said "YES!!!" Getting engaged to the man I love with a mountainous backdrop was a dream. We are so excited to live our lives together!
