Last April, Lindsey was in Half Moon Bay, California, visiting her childhood best friend, Rachel. Lindsey was focusing on her walk with the Lord in her singleness, but Rachel had known, deep down, that she very much desired to be a wife and a mom, and she was determined to help a sister out. Rachel was talking to Lindsey in her kitchen when she had a light bulb moment, stating, "WHAT ABOUT JAYCE FENNER? I think he loves God, and my mom loves him". Lindsey laughed and told Rachel that was a funny suggestion, considering Jayce was (a little) younger (like her brother's age) and a very close family friend. Jayce was considered a bonus son to her Uncle Jake and Aunt Emily, another brother to her four cousins, and a close friend to her younger brothers. Lindsey had also seen Jayce run around with her brothers and cousins throughout their childhood, causing havoc in their tiny town of Malin. Easter Sunday came around, and Rachel shared a photo of Jayce at church with his sister, Dallyn. Jayce looked all grown up with a handsome beard. Lindsey took note of this but continued to enjoy her trip with her friend. Rachel, being Rachel, brought this idea up many times and even consulted her brother, Dallas, and her Mother, Darla, on the matter. Rachel continued to gather further intel during this time, and she concluded that Jayce was still kind, still single (waiting on an equally yoked partner), and he was hard at work in Colorado becoming a lineman. In May 2025, Lindsey overheard one of her family members mention that Jayce was in town for a whole week during Memorial Day. Lindsey was sitting in her father's Sunday school class, and while she should've been paying more attention to the Bible lesson, she had this consistent distraction present. Lindsey reached out to Jayce that same day and did not tell a soul (but Rachel, her sisters, and the rest of her bridesmaids, of course). Jayce somehow joined her family get-together the very next day with her cousin, Nolan. They secretly spoke in the kitchen about going on a date the following day so her brothers would not overhear. Jayce and Lindsey went on a great first date and spent hours talking and catching up about the years of life they were both absent from. That night, Jayce and Lindsey went out to Malin and ended up helping her family chase cows around at 10 PM, where her dad did indeed find out that she was on a date with Jayce prior. Jayce and Lindsey went on a couple more dates that week and spent a fun Fourth of July together with their family. Since then, they have been dating long-distance, catching plane ride after plane ride to see one another. They enjoy going to church together, trying new coffee shops, and eating all the sushi. They love both of their families and are so pleased with how their lives have intertwined. Now looking back, it is clear that God had a plan all along. What began with a not-so-subtle encouragement has grown into a love they are both so thankful for.
