Many people think you can’t find true love online, and we would’ve agreed, but then our friends talked us into trying a dating app. David swiped right after only 5 days on the app, and his sweet smile, big blue eyes, and intriguing profile caught Lindsey’s eye. Over a shared love of the outdoors, yoga, and music, and our dark, sometimes highly inappropriate senses of humor, we realized we had something extremely special. A first date of gourmet food, karaoke, and side-splitting laughter was all it took for us to decide we were ready to build a future together.
Some proposals involve expensive meals, flights to fancy locations, or sneaky photographers, but we aren’t those kinds of people. One quiet November evening in 2018, as Lindsey was making dinner, David took the spatula from her hand, got down on one knee, presented a beautiful handmade moonstone ring (her favorite gemstone), and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. Of course, she said YES!
Not long after the proposal, we learned we were expecting our little Bodhi. We were so excited about bringing our new baby into the world and decided to wait to get married until after his arrival. We didn’t anticipate just how tired we would be for months and months after his birth, however. We then planned to get married in the spring of 2020. Amidst planning our nuptuals, Covid-19 hit the US. Not knowing how this would affect the world, we put our wedding on hold until summer. After losing David’s father in June, and with all of the turmoil in the world this year, we had a lot of difficult feelings to process. While having some heartfelt conversations, we realized that we needed to create something joyful and find a reason to celebrate life in 2020. We didn’t want to wait any longer to officially begin our future together. There will always be reasons to wait, to be upset, to feel sad, so we must do our best to create joy, love, and peace every day, and so we are extremely excited and blessed to be celebrating our union with you on October 25th.
