We met the way all good modern love stories begin: through mutual friends and a little unexpected magic. One of Austin’s roommates happened to work for Lindsey. She had no idea who Austin was really — only knew she had a male roommate who’d watch Bachelor in Paradise with her every Monday night —and he knew of her. But he just assumed she must be much older than him if she was somebodies “boss.” Well, when he finally saw a photo, he did a double take and said, “Dang… she’s really cute.” From that moment, he wanted to meet her. At the time, Lindsey was going some twists and turns in life & wasn’t ready for anyone to love her. But Austin was patient—kind, grounded, and always showing up with quiet confidence. The first time they saw each other in person was at a volunteer event. Austin thought she was just as adorable in real life, maybe even more so—but Lindsey was so shy she barely made eye contact. He still jokes about how she wouldn’t even sit next to him later that night when they grabbed a beer with a group of friends. What he didn’t know was that Lindsey had a plan. She wanted to test the waters first. If her close friends Garrett and Katrina gave him a good review—without knowing there was any interest—then maybe she’d open up. And they did. “Austin’s awesome. Super cool,” they said. That was all the confirmation she needed. Soon after that night Austin made his move. He bet Lindsey that if he could find just one matching puzzle piece, she’d have to let him take her out on a date. This was after yet another group date where Lindsey tried to barely notice Austin, that didn’t last long…He didn’t find just one—he found three. And just like that, we were off to our first date at a San Francisco Giants game. Since then, we’ve shared two homes—one tiny, and one absolutely perfect. We’re raising a silly (but can be naughty) little pup named Pancho, who has stolen the heart of every person he’s ever met and keeps us laughing and on our toes every single day. Austin’s been the best dog dad from the start—and Pancho’s best friend for life. We’ve learned, grown, and built a life together through the highs and lows of the past couple of years—and we truly fall more in love with each other every single day. We’re best friends and just adore each others company. So when Austin proposed just before the New Year under the Huntington Beach pier—a special place from his younger years—Lindsey couldn’t have imagined a more perfect moment to say- “Yes!” And honestly, that’s how it’s always been with us—like puzzle pieces just waiting to find their match. And once we did, everything just… clicked.
