Show Low, Arizona

Our Story

It all started in Flagstaff, AZ early 90's at the Mad Italian Public House. I was looking for a job when my roommate, Carolyn, suggested that I come try to get a job at the bar where she worked. It was quite the popular place back then, so I asked for any tips that might give me an edge. Carolyn said "you need to go in and speak to the manager, Randy. I'm pretty sure he likes the cowgirl type." Sweet! Not a problem for me because I've been a cowgirl at heart my entire life! It also didn't hurt that my old dorm roomies, Janine & Brenda, & I used to go country dancing at the Museum Club every Thursday, Friday & Saturday night. I had acquired quite the collection of Rockies & Roper Jeans (look them up...ha!) & my favorite Lucchese boots! Surely i could find something to impress... So I got ready in my cowgirl best & headed in to meet this Randy guy. As soon as I walked in the bar door I was greeted by a friendly, confident & somewhat boisterous fellow who said "you must be Lindsey!" I was a little taken off guard because I didn't know that he was expecting me! My first thought was "he's cute & he must be confident with such lovely red hair fashioned in a flowing ringlet mullet!" (It was the early 90's. Stay with me here) We sat & discussed my complete lack of waitressing or bartending experience along with life in general. He was looking for someone to work the Tuesday & Thursday shifts. Those happened to be the only days I could NOT work. Well, I'm not sure if it was my pocket-less butt jeans, my total lack of experience or my sparkling personality, but something clicked. I was hired & started working that night! We became pretty good work friends, but that kind of all changed when he called me down to the keg room for some reason. This "room" was actually a musty glorified beer closet down some sketchy stairs from inside the bar itself. I quickly figured out what he was up to when I saw that sh!t-eating grin on his face. And that is where we shared our first kiss! Nowadays that kind of stuff would get HR involved really quickly, but luckily not back then. I didn't complain. Time marched on and Randy left the Mad I. Ironically I ended up taking over most of the managerial duties that Randy had before. Even crazier is Randy's old rental house was owned by the bar, so once he left, those guys had to move out of the house too. Guess who moved in the rental house next....that's right, me, my friend Carolyn & a couple other friends! Despite the fact that I essentially took over his job, his house & even his bedroom, we still remained close. Friends? Dating? Yes & yes, but nothing too too serious. We had a lot of fun in our little college town. We played softball together, went to tons of rugby events & lots of Super Bowl parties as well as quiet dinners & Blockbuster movie nights at one of our houses. We also had some great trips to Laughlin, Parker & Mexico etc., usually with all of our crazy, fun friends. Eventually lives change & situations change. I ended moving back to California while Randy stayed in Flag. We lost touch for a bit. We both found new loves and life was good. Randy doesn't believe in social media or Bookface, so we only really stayed in touch by a very sporadic email or call every year or two. Fast forward to 2017 when I found myself needing a fresh start in life, something completely different. I was Arizona bound once again. I reached out to several old AZ friends to reconnect, Randy being one of them. I found out he was moving to Show Low, AZ. I can honestly say that I had never heard of the place. I went to visit a few times to get out of the horrific Phoenix heat. We realized that we were not only still the best of friends, but we found a spark once again. I ended up not wanting to leave & he asked me to stay. On Valentines Day 2021 he asked me to be his best friend for life! When you come to see us, the 1st thing you will see upon opening our front door is the old Mad Italian Public House wooden sign.
