We met in 2015 in the most millennial, just out-of-college way possible. Tinder. That’s right, the OG swipe right “dating” app where you judge people solely based on their looks. Luckily for us, we shared a terrible sense of humor - Lindsey’s profile stating she was a “single dad looking for love” wasn’t a deterrent. Lindsey made the first move and fired off her the best first line she could think of… “doggggggggg”. Seriously, that was it. That’s all it took. Richie’s plan of pimping out his new puppy Darla in one of his Tinder pictures to meet a girl worked. After some time in the DM’s, we exchanged numbers and went to a comedy show for our first date while Lindsey was basically on her deathbed with bronchitis. She probably shouldn’t have been out in public. After several months of dating, we moved into our first apartment together in the Elmwood Village. Lindsey got her first full-time job in Buffalo, and Richie got his first full-time pharmacy position, working every other week in Syracuse - Lindsey’s hometown. To save money, he moved in with Lindsey’s parents during the weeks he worked, sleeping in her childhood bedroom. Awkwarddddd. That job didn’t last very long. We spent 5 years in that apartment where our family grew by one with the addition of Remus before we moved to the burbs and bought a house in 2020. We’ve added Olive to the family that year and remain a family of 4.
We were engaged in May of 2024 on a family road trip to Asheville, NC. We found an Airbnb in the mountains with our dogs, with plans to hike and see a Noah Kahan concert. (fun fact: one of his lyrics inspired a matching tattoo we got this weekend). After 12 or so hours in the car, we settled on the couch and turned on Below Deck. Richie had grand plans to propose the day after we arrived but was too full of nervous energy. He pulled out the ring when Lindsey got up during a commercial break to get something to drink. Richie popped the question in the Airbnb kitchen. Lindsey knew it was coming. She wouldn’t have wanted anything different. We are excited to make it legal after nearly a decade together, and can’t wait to celebrate with family and friends!
