How it Started

AOM Besties

Lindsay and Treay met at UF, in their small major. (Like, really small - 62 people total in a four-year program). Treay knew Lindsay as the "girl who helped him cram before a test" and Lindsay knew Treay as the "guy who always wore a flower hat." After a year of classes together and studying/cramming in the computer lab, Lindsay and Treay became "AOM Besties." Lindsay graduated a year later and (thankfully) was able to find a job in Gainesville. Treay met Lindsay's entire family that weekend (and everyone loved him - of course). The shenanigans continued - lots of "Pizza, Beer, and We Stay Here" parties were had. Game nights, line dancing, and road trips created a friendship that was unlike most others.

Finally Admitting There is More to the Friendship

I could never date her - she's too much like my sister!

Treay and Lindsay's friendship didn't blossom into something more until Lindsay went on a road trip with Treay to Bartow, FL and met his parents for the first time! Lindsay was already pretty close with Allison, Treay's sister, but quickly realized how easily she was able to get along with Treay's family. Over the weekend, Lindsay and Treay would grow closer together. At first, Lindsay and Treay denied that anything was going on - they were just friends. Treay told his family "I could never date her - she's too much like my sister." Lindsay's best friend and MOH, Taryn, asked her why she isn't dating Treay to which Lindsay responded, "because he's my bestie and I don't want to ruin that friendship." Lindsay got back from a girls trip with Taryn on November 26, 2017. Treay took Lindsay on their first date that evening and they finally admitted to everyone there was more to their friendship.

Long Distance

FaceTime Dates and Weekend Trips

Treay and Lindsay started dating in November 2017 and in June 2018, Treay graduated from UF and moved back home to Bartow, FL (2.5 hours from Gainesville). Treay and Lindsay had been together almost every day throughout college so suddenly being 2.5 hours away and seeing each other every other weekend turned out to be a little difficult at first. Because of Treay's new job schedule, they had only been able to chat on FaceTime for 15 minutes each night before Treay would fall asleep. Still, they stuck it out and made it a point to do fun things on the weekends they were together. This lasted until Lindsay could finally convince her job to let her work from home in February 2020.

Home At Last

And they were roommates

After almost two years (and nearly all of their relationship), long distance finally ended when Lindsay was able to move to Lakeland, FL with Treay. Lindsay and Treay found a cute house for rent and made it into a nice little home for the two of them. And then Covid-19 hit. Lindsay and Treay quickly went from 15-minute FaceTime dates and every-other-weekend trips to being with each other for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Though working A LOT of overtime, Treay and Lindsay were still able to find some quality time to spend with each other. They started cooking more meals together, built some blanket forts for movie weekends, and were still able to do game nights with family and friends through Zoom. After 5 months of quarantine, Treay still knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Lindsay.

The Proposal

So many surprises

Treay took Lindsay to Dunedin, FL for a socially-distanced beach weekend getaway. Friday night, on the drive over, Treay asked Lindsay if she would like to get up early to watch the sunrise on the water. Lindsay, loving to get up for any sort of adventure, happily accepted (though she should have known something was up). Saturday morning, Treay and Lindsay got up, drove to a small park, and started walking down a trail to find somewhere nice to watch the sunrise. They passed numerous benches on the way but Treay was adamant that there was going to be a nicer spot further up. Finally, they get to a nice semi-circle grassy area with a gorgeous view of the water. Treay brings Lindsay over to a spot in the grass, gets down on one knee, and proposes. One of the most notable lines from Treay was, "I wanted to show you how much I love you and what better way to do that than by getting up early." Treay had also asked Taryn to drive over that morning to take pictures of the proposal. Taryn (happily) obliged and was able to capture some beautiful moments of one of the happiest days of Lindsay and Treay's lives.
