Before they officially met, Lindsay had noticed Rick from a distance. She had seen him at parties, they were friends on social media, but they had never really talked. To make things even more interesting, Rick planned the hike for 6:00 PM—by the time they were making their way down, it was pitch black, they had no flashlights, and Lindsay had blisters covering her heels. This was also Lindsay’s first introduction to Rick’s mom, Sheila, who kindly offered her a Band-Aid. From that point on, they were inseparable, spending almost every day together. One day, they planned to meet at Gusto’s, and Rick was so excited that he parked his car, got out, and forgot to turn it off—leaving it running in the parking lot for hours. A few months in, they took a spontaneous trip to Hampton Beach. Before they left, Lindsay’s mom, Trista, made sure to meet Rick—just to see who this guy was whisking her daughter away on a trip. Their relationship became official at Cornerstone Grill in Northfield, where, mid-bite into a chicken wing, Rick casually asked, “So, do you think we should make this official?” Lindsay burst out laughing—and, of course, said yes.
