Joe and Lindsay met in 2013 while Joe was working on an off shore tug boat and Lindsay was starting her second year of college. Joe's life consisted of working for a month and home for 2 weeks. It just so happened that on one of his hitches home, one of his closet friends wanted him to go out to dinner with him and his girlfriend. Drew insisted on finding a date for Joe, although Joe was perfectly fine being the third wheel. Drew's girlfriend at the time messaged a few girls in search of the perfect date for Joe. When Lindsay got the text, she was blown away and extremely nervous. Lindsay had an idea of who he was because he graduated with her older sister. They went to eat Japanese and probably spoke two words to each other the entire dinner. After dinner they went back to Drew's girlfriends house and played a board game. Later on that night they headed their separate ways. Drew's girlfriend asked Lindsay what she thought of Joe. What she thought of him?! She knew she wanted to see him again but couldn't seem too eager. Her reply, 'I mean he's nice'. To this day they still laugh about that saying. Long story short, they went from one small blind date and haven't stopped since.
The engagement was nothing short of excitement! A local photographer made a post on social media searching for an adventurous couple to take pictures of to build up her portfolio. Lindsay happened to message her just to see if she was interested in photographing them as something fun for the two of them to do. Little did she know that Joe had a bigger plan. He messaged the photographer a couple weeks before they were taking pictures to tell her his plans. He wasn't sure if it was what the photographer was looking for, but he knew that he wanted the proposal captured (he knew it's what Lindsay wanted). They arrived at Toccoa Falls and took pictures for around 30 minutes or so. Towards the end of the session, the photographer asks Lindsay to look at the water as she steps away from Joe. She then precedes to ask her to read the sign. As she is standing there, she looks up and a sign that reads 'stay off of the water'. She thinks to herself that's weird, why would she read a sign out loud during pictures?! Until it hit her. Joe grabs her arm to turn her and around, there he is, on one knee. She was in complete shock! Something that they have waited 6 years for was finally happening!! It was such a fun and exciting day for them as they began to start the next step in starting their life together!
