Are you ready?

Our first date happened at a place called Shooter's on the Water, and we met for brunch. We sat outside under a tiki bar while a one-man band played acoustic guitar and sang heartache love songs like Tennessee Whiskey and Drink You Away. The conversation between us flowed as effortlessly as the bottomless mimosas. He was new to town and I was the social butterfly. We painted the town that day in all the colors of a little bit of chaos.

This past June was coming up on our one year anniversary and Hector had planned a weekend getaway for us in beautiful Puerto Rico. This marvelous island is where Hector and his family are originally from so I was super excited to see his home and thrilled to visit a new exotic place. Friday, our first day on the island, was spent site seeing, trying new foods, and attending a surprise birthday party for Hector's beautiful sister. We celebrated all night! Saturday morning, we decided to explore Old San Juan. We walked up and down the cobblestone streets, admired the historic statues, and ate the best chocolate ever at Chocolate Cortes! We started down through the Iconic San Juan Gate and entered Paseo de la Princesa. We stopped and sat on the gorgeously historical fountain Fuente Raices meaning "roots" to take selfies. I was eager to keep moving and started to jump down when Hector asked me to wait, he told me, "You know I want to spend the rest of my life with you?" I started to smile and feel shy, and he pulled out a little black box. He got down on one knee and asked "Will you marry me?". Hands shaking, (I said YES!) and he put on my finger a stunner diamond ring.
