We met at Oregon State University in 2013 when Lindsay’s randomly-assigned freshman year dorm roommate (Hi, Madi!) told her, 2 weeks into rooming together, “You remind me of my highschool friend Dylan. You guys should meet. And date.” After 3 years of crossing paths, playing intramural basketball with our mutual friends, and thinking he was cute, Lindsay plucked up the courage to text Dylan on his 21st Birthday offering to buy him a drink when he was back in town from his engineering internship. We met at Sanchos on April 2nd 2016; Lindsay was flanked by 4 of her older brothers’ friends (not intimidating at all) and Dyl sweetly offered to walk her home. We talked about our similar upbringings as cul-de-sac kids who played a bunch of sports, had tight-knit friends and family, and found that we had the same humor and goofiness. The next weekend, we had our first official date. We went mini golfing, and then extended the date to go on a hike. Dylan began to come back to Corvallis every weekend so we could spend time together, and thus began our first 6 month stint of what would turn into a cumulative of 3 and a half years of long distance dating over the course of our nearly 9 years together. We endured driving between Issaquah and Wilsonville about every other weekend after graduating college when we both were living at home, shared our first apartment in Portland during covid, had another stint of distance when Lindsay moved to San Diego to start OT school, and then again for her fieldwork rotations in Idaho and Wyoming. And now, we are settled in our cute apartment in San Diego and finally together for good. We spend our days going for long walks in our neighborhood, trying new restaurants but mostly ending up at our old favorites, soaking up living by the beach, zoo, and Balboa park, going to outdoor concerts any chance we get, spending time with our close group of friends here, dueting in the car as we run weekend errands, and snuggling on the couch watching (quoting) sitcoms. We love our little life here. Dylan proposed on December 26th, 2024 in Spokane at the Little Spokane River on a walk that Lindsay has taken with her family every time she visited her Grandparents since she was a kid. If you know Lindsay, you likely know that Christmas is one of her favorite things in the world, so that makes December 26th the worst day of the year. We’re happy to say that after this day, it is now the best. We are so excited to finally get married and get to celebrate with all of our favorite people. You all mean the world to us and we can’t wait to see you all together in one place on September 27th!
