We became friends serving together in the college ministry at our church, Chad quoted part of an Eminem song & Lindsay finished it. Best friend status commenced. 2019 was a rough year for Chad & 2020 brought a pandemic, throughout 2020 we spent a lot of time on zoom & house party talking & playing games, only growing closer but neither seeing what our circles saw. Lindsay threw a surprise party for Chad’s 30th, which sparked a lot of conversations about our friendship status. We remained steadfast & stubborn that we were JUST FRIENDS. We had our first hard discussion & our first big argument which we discussed the elephant in the room of our “feelings” in late 2020. 2021 brought some realizations for us both personally that led to us becoming closer & really leaning on the other for support, after a rough start to the year a group of friends decided we should go to Branson on a trip. So we set out on a road trip and on the last day our group went different directions & we ended up taking a slingshot out for a few hours around Table Rock Lake & a shift seemed to happen. The Sunday after we returned Chad had dinner with his family & his Dad & Mom told him they needed to talk to him after dinner, which Chad got anxious. After dinner they told him that he had a lot of people who loved him & Chad said he had a great group of friends and his sister Emma said, “Lindsay loves you.” To which Chad got immediately annoyed & they expressed they just wanted him to be happy. On the drive home Chad was listening to a song & thought about Lindsay & was reminded that he had told himself he was going to listen to his family & their advice. Over the next few weeks we got closer due to some ongoing things & feeling like a safe space for the other. We ended up spending a lot of time on the phone together & in person & we fell in love like you fall asleep, slowly & then all at once. On Nov 19th Chad took Lindsay to Mama Rojas & out to the lighthouse & proposed. The rest is history!
