The Bridal party will be seen wearing local made jewelry from DP Jewelry. Additionally, this is where Mauricio's wedding band is from as well as where Lindsay had her grandmothers ring melted down and made into her wedding band. Needless to say, this is a great, local Jeweler whom you can trust!
For Surfers by Surfers. This is a local Surf Shop Lindsay worked for in years past while still remaining a professional relationship with the owners. If you decide to shop or want to take surf lessons while you are in town, please contact and/or visit Marsh's Surf Shop. #shoplocal "In 1972, inspired by the stoke & passion from her boys love of surfing, Bette opened Marsh's Surf Shop (originally known as Marsh's Surf N Sea) in our favorite beach town of Atlantic Beach, NC. Fastforward 50 years: the shop; now bigger, after several expansions, is still family owned & operated by the Marsh family. The youngest of Bette's boys, Mickey, owns the shop and his children, MJ & Frances, run the day to day operations."
For more than 400 years the wild horses of Shackleford Banks have taken care of their young, frolicked on pristine deserted beaches and foraged for food with not a saddle or fence in sight. The horses have enjoyed the protections afforded by Cape Lookout National Seashore in cooperation with the Foundation for Shackleford Horses dedicated to maintaining the animals’ way of life. Scientists, historians and nature lovers alike have speculated the origins of the Shackleford horses, or “Banker ponies” – the most popular being that the horses swam ashore after a Spanish ship exploring the new world met with a tragic fate off of North Carolina’s shores. Visitors make their way to the island by private boat or ferry running from Harkers Island, Beaufort and Morehead City – and the captains of Island Express Ferry Service are more than happy to dish most their secrets to shelling during the ride.
*Please contact Lindsay if you are interested in experiencing a fishing charter. She will be able to give you reputable Captains for both Inshore and Offshore Fishing Experiences. The Crystal Coast has one of the longest fishing seasons on the Atlantic giving visitors the freedom to fish all year long with at least one breed of fish abundant at any time of year. In the fall there are plentiful schools of false albacore, red drum, and seatrout; the winter is popular for striped bass and blue fin tuna; cobia in the spring and the summer is known for the rich population of white and blue marlin, sailfish, dolphin and wahoo. There is a range of options for those wishing to try their hand at catching a “big one” including private chartered fishing excursions or the more affordable, family friendly, head-boat fishing tours that take anywhere from 50 to 100 people.
Carolina Home & Garden was established in 1996. Over the years, we have grown into much more than your local Garden Shop! Owner's Brian & Stephanie Watson started this business in their mid twenties. It was not until their daughter Logan began her journey here, that Carolina Home & Garden became more than your plant buying place! Logan's boutique is located inside. Half of the store was clothing and gifts, and the other side were plants, fertilizers, seeds, rakes, animal feed and more! Logan's Boutique slowly began to take over. The past few years, the Garden Center has been reconfigured to be towards the back part of our property. This has made shopping for plants and all of your gardens needs, much more convenient. Inside the boutique, you can find so many unique items from local artists and small businesses! In the front part of our store, we have a vintage bar room that also has a variety of old fashion arcade games!
Amusement center with bowling & arcade games, plus a sports bar serving beer, wine & pub food.
The N.C. Coastal Reserve & National Estuarine Research Reserve is a program of the N.C. Division of Coastal Management, a division of the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality. The N.C. National Estuarine Research Reserve is managed through a federal-state partnership between NOAA and the N.C. Division of Coastal Management. The Reserve is a network of 10 protected sites established for long-term research, education and stewardship. This program protects more than 44,000 acres of estuarine land and water, which provides essential habitat for wildlife; offers educational opportunities for students, teachers and the public; and serves as living laboratories for scientists.
Fort Macon State Park has multiple personalities as the site of a perfectly restored Antebellum-era fort, a museum-quality coastal education center, and an unspoiled shoreline for swimming, surf fishing, and beachcombing. Nearly surrounded by water at the eastern tip of Bogue Banks, the park offers undisturbed natural beauty and opportunities to explore and learn about salt marshes, estuaries, and dune fields. The fort has a history as intricate and unique as the ecosystem. Cannon and musket demonstrations and guided tours are regular features, complementing extensive exhibits indoors and out. A bathhouse and wheelchair-accessible beachside areas complete the recreational fare.
The town’s oldest cemetery holds fascinating stories about Beaufort’s 300-year history! Many graves are marked with shell, brick, or wooden slabs because stone markers would have to have been brought from afar by wooden sailing vessels.Others have vaulted markers, which were covered in brick to protect them from high water and wild animals and are characteristic of many historic seaport towns. Uncovered by an archaeological survey in 1992, the seemingly empty northwest corner of the cemetery is in fact its oldest section, with many unmarked graves dating from the early 18th century.A record from September 1711 notes the area had “been depopulated by the late Indian War and Massacre.”It is probable that those in some of the unmarked graves perished during wars with Coree and Neusiok Native Americans.Other inhabitants include a child who died at sea and was buried in a keg of rum, as well as the great privateer Captain Otway Burns and many more.
This place is awesome! One of my favorite competitive group activities. Must call ahead to schedule time.
