We met in Abstract Algebra class in the fall of 2012. Lindsay instantly noticed Dominic’s green eyes. Dominic asked to carry Lindsay’s books to her car. She said “Yes.” We developed a close friendship while working on math problems. Our friendship blossomed into love over Real Analysis. Over the past seven years, we grew our family, adopting one dog and four cats: Shylo, Gandy, Cauchy, Riemann, and Baby June. Currently our days are spent working on teaching at Diablo Valley College, hiking in the woods, and working on our beautiful home in Canyon California.

On 7-4-19, we took a hike in our backyard with our dog Shylo and his sister Posha. Lindsay knew Dominic was going to “pop the question” when he told her where to stand. He turned his back on the beautiful Upper San Leandro Reservoir and bent a knee. Dominic proposed with a ring he found while helping Lindsay clean her Grandma Helen’s house. It turns out, the ring was made for Helen by a close friend of Lindsay’s Father, Tom. We decided to use the ring, which consists of two knots becoming one, because of its elegant mathematical form and symbolism of unity.
