How They Met

04/04/2015

Thanks to two of their best friends and coworkers (who spent several months trying to set the couple up together,) Lindsay and David finally agreed to meet. A conversation was started with several Friends and Seinfeld references, and the decision was made to hike Mt. Pisgah together. After a brief, unintentional detour to the Pisgah Wastewater Treatment Plant, they began the strenuous hike to the summit. David made it a point to pet every dog along the way, and Lindsay knew immediately that she adored this man. The conversation was easy, the laughs were genuine, and the rest is history!

The Proposal

The ring was purchased, and David began planning the surprise. One day while out on patrol, he passed the arboretum, and an idea struck him. “A romantic proposal in a winter wonderland surrounded by beautiful Christmas lights!” He looked online and booked a package including a shuttle from a downtown hotel and a complimentary hot cocoa. The night arrived and David was nervous. He got ready, putting on his nice boots and jacket. He looked good, but not suspiciously good. The last thing he wanted was Lindsay interrogating him. He waited patiently for her as she got ready. Per usual, she was running behind, and he began to stress about missing the bus. An hour later, they pulled into the parking lot and saw the shuttle. “We made it!” He circled around the hotel to the designated parking area. David jumped out quickly, but Lindsay took her time bundling up and gathering her things. They walked back up to where the bus had been and found that it was gone! After a phone call and a short drive, they made it to their destination and began walking the grounds. It was freezing outside! Eventually, they stopped to get their hot cocoa, loaded with marshmallows and steaming in the frigid night air. They retreated to the indoor space to warm up. David, having not found the perfect spot yet, convinced Lindsay to return outside with him again just to walk through the lights one more time. She reluctantly agreed, wondering why he was so obsessed with the lights this year. David saw a beautiful tunnel of lights and walked her over to it. When no one was lingering in the tunnel, he asked her if they could get a photo there before they left for the night. He then set up their Go-Pro on a tripod facing them. They posed together, smiling for the “photo” when David suddenly dropped to a knee and pulled a beautiful ring out from his pocket. “Lindsay, will you marry me?” In total disbelief, she responded “you’re sh***ing me!” which was quickly followed by a “YES!”

The Party!

10/16/2020

Originally, Lindsay and David planned to have a large reception the day after their elopment with all of their friends and family in beautiful downtown Asheville. Due to many uncertainties, safety concerns and travel restrictions related to COVID-19, they felt it was best to cancel their formal reception. With heavy hearts, they would like to apologize to you for not being able to celebrate with you in person this year. Thank you for visiting their wedding website!
