On the opposite end of the country, looking to be of service through volunteering, Linds and I met in McClellan Park, Sacramento. We both joined Americorps expecting an experience wildly different than the one we encountered and found solace in each other’s company. Our relationship began when Lindsay was attempting to cook orange chicken for her team of ten. Her cooking partner was freezing up and she was getting overwhelmed as I walked by the kitchen, seeing this, I offered to help. While we cooked together we also enjoyed each other’s company and from there we continued to get to know one another. We traveled across the continent, meeting in Louisiana, Washington D.C., and West Virginia, where we finally expressed our love for each other. Now four years later, we’re still following that same adventure, with our proposal on top of the tallest mountain in New England, Mount Washington.
