Where: A mutual friend's housewarming party in San Francisco How: Matt recently joined Mathieu's team at work and moved to San Francisco from San Diego. Morvy is one of Matt's good friends from San Diego. In the sea of people was Linda, one of Morvy's plus 1's to the party. With so many people crammed into the SF apartment, it was getting stuffy and fresh air was desperately needed. Mathieu saw that the window was closed, but when he tried to open it, he discovered that the crank on the window was broken. Being the ingenious engineer that he is, he scavenged some cardboard and tape to try and wedge it open. Linda saw this man struggling near the window and went to see if he needed help. When she asked, he said no because he wanted to impress Linda. But Linda stuck around to see what he was planning to do. Eventually, Mathieu looked at Linda and said "Do you have nails?". Implying that Linda, as a woman, has nails and Mathieu, as a man, is like a declawed cat. But Linda overlooked the mildly sexist assumption and helped Mathieu with the roll of tape and together they finished propping open the window. From there, they parted ways until end of the night when they had their first of many curiosity-driven conversations, observing a mechanical parking lift of the building's garage.

Néanmoins, elle resta à ses côtés pour voir comment il allait s’y prendre À un moment donné, Mathieu la regarda et lui demanda: « As-tu des ongles? » Ignorant le commentaire qu’elle trouvait plutôt sexiste, Linda lui donna un coup de main. Ingénieux comme il est, il a réussi à patenter quelque chose avec un morceau de carton et du ruban adhésif afin d’ouvrir la fenêtre. Ils passèrent le reste de la soirée chacun de leur côté jusqu’à ce que plus tard, l’ascenseur du garage leur offre un prétexte pour entamer une conversation. Et c’est ainsi que débuta leur idylle.
