Her Side

It all started in June at a wedding when an aunty that our family knows well was talking with my mom. Having a single daughter, my mom ended up asking aunty if she knew any "good cherukkanmar (guys)" for me "Jolly, why doesn't she try Shaadi?" Side note: To anyone who isn't Indian, Shaadi is the Indian version of a dating website, but fast track to marriage. I looked at my mom with eyes wide open and thought no. Absolutely no. A few days passed and my curiosity increased. "What if I tried?" Fast forward a bit, we created a profile, there were suggestions, I didn't like many, and I am still searching. Alright so a few weeks have passed and honestly, I am giving up hope on this whole thing LOL! Then it appeared... Roshan Babu. I see this profile of someone who was raised in the Middle East, and here in Maine to pursue theology. (I have prayed for YEARS to marry a man with a heart for ministry so you can imagine my joy.) I clicked on his profile... and the next day, I see a message! His family had seen my profile and liked it and wanted to see if I was interested to talk to their son. His sister so sweetly messaged me on Facebook and I got to ask her questions about this seminary-going, Jesus-loving man. That same day, we got to talk for the first time. We talked all about our heart for God, family, and everything in between. I knew he was the one the moment he asked me one simple question, "Christ asks that a husband loves their wife the way Christ loves the church. Will you love me with an agape (without conditions) love the way I will love you?" Chachen, I can't wait to be your wife and for you to be my husband! I am beyond thankful the God gave me you! ❤️

His Side

Somehow I managed to agree to get myself on Shaadi. Like she already mentioned, I met my baby girl on Shaadi. My mom decided to create my Shaadi profile, in the beginning I didn’t like the idea of finding my soul mate through a matrimonial website, so I was denying all the requests without even looking at them. One fine evening, I got an interest from my baby girl. Although she only came to find this out later... I thought of declining the interest, clearly God had other plans! Haha. All of the sudden before I got to the decline button, my pastor wanted me to come downstairs, so I left my phone and went down. At that point, I had forgotten about this pending interest. When I returned home, my mom and I began a conversation about if I had found any matches online. I gave her my phone and she saw Feba's profile. Long story short, we all agreed and reached out to her to see if she wanted to talk. I realized that it was only when I had reached a place of self- love is when God brought us together. There are some unpleasant things in this world, but sometimes there’s beauty too. My girl is my beauty! "God did not create woman from man’s head, that he should command her, nor from his feet, that she should be his slave, but rather from his side, that she should be near his heart” -Myles Munroe Feba, I can talk to hundreds of people in one day but none of them compare to the smile you can give me in one minute!
