Salento is a beautiful, colorful town about one hour by car from the wedding venue. We recommend two plans. First, stroll through the town’s colorful streets, stop by the Mirador for panoramic views, and enjoy a great cup of coffee at Café Jesús Martín (Carrera 6 #6-14) or Café Quindío (Cra 6 #5-10), both on Plaza Bolívar, the main square. Second, visit the Cocora Valley, known for some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Coffee Region. You can get there by contacting Alex for a fun Jeep ride at +57 311 755 5899, or by taking one of the Jeeps lined up at Plaza Bolívar, which run continuously from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. The ride takes about 25 to 30 minutes and costs around $10 USD per person round trip. Once there, choose from short, medium, or longer hikes through the palm forest, or simply enjoy the scenic Jeep ride.
We also recommend visiting Filandia, a charming town about a one-hour car ride from the wedding venue. While there, we suggest having lunch at Helena Adentro, one of the best places to experience local cuisine from the Coffee Region. Reservations are strongly recommended, as it fills up quickly, and can be made here: https://helenaadentro.com/pages/reservas After lunch, take some time to wander and explore Filandia’s colorful streets.
Another great option is visiting Parque del Café, a coffee-themed adventure park. You can hop on 35+ rides and attractions, including multiple roller coasters, learn what makes Colombian coffee unique at the Coffee Museum, or enjoy panoramic views of the coffee plantations from a 90-foot cable car. It’s about a 1.5-hour drive from the wedding venue, with beautiful scenery along the way, and full access tickets are typically around $25 USD per person.
