Trent's Story

How I Fell In Love

I actually first met Lily at a birthday party out in Portland. She was a friend of a friend and we first bumped into each other at this roller rink. It was very sudden and quick, but it was enough to remember. Later into the party we connected again and realized we had so many similar interests and had a ton in common. Our conversation was just flowing, which is super rare because I'm not a huge talker. Next thing I know I'm asking Lily for her number, which led to runs together and invites to hang out with her and her friends. I played the safe game for the first week or so to make sure it was not just a friendly thing, until me and Lil drove back from wine tasting with some friends and she squeaked out, "I just need to say this...I have a baby crush on you!" Then the rest was history :) From then on our love continued to grow. Maybe it's because I'm oblivious, but every time we'd go on another date I'd find something else I loved and adored about her. She would always have this sort of glow around her, especially when she smiled, that would suck me right in every time :) About six months had gone by and it honestly felt like we knew each other forever. We were so comfortable and true with one another almost from the get go. I didn't know at the start, but I soon came to realize that I had to marry this girl. She was perfect in every way for me :)

How I Met The Love Of My Life

When I met Trent I had just started graduate school, was working at a mental health clinic, had recently purchased a car on my own and felt like an empowered self-sufficient single lady! I was dating but did NOT want to start something serious, my life was too full, a relationship would take up too much space in my already busy life! But God has a way of creating beautiful messes in our lives we can’t envision and wouldn’t change. I bumped into Trent at a mutual friend’s roller skating themed Birthday Party in Portland, thought he was the most handsome guy I’d ever seen, and spent the rest of the evening trying to discreetly talk to him. We had a lot in common which only intensified my smitten-ness, he was vegan AND a runner? He was perfect. I was drooling. The next morning our group of friends ended up in Powell’s and as we visited about a plant-based cookbook for runners (we’re a little intense) his smile was so big I felt simultaneously so at ease and so anxious I didn’t know what to do with myself. Then he asked for my number and life had never been more perfect! But he didn’t text me. And I don’t think he planned to (he’s gotten wiser since then) so our mutual friend- praise the Lord for Asia B. Wolfe- used her match making mama skills to help him get his act together. Within a month we were dating, the next month we were saying I love you, and a year later he was down on a knee. It’s been a whirlwind but bumping into Trenton at that roller rink is the best thing that’s every happened to me. God messed up my life in the best way and I can’t wait to marry and spend the rest of this life with my intense-ultra running-vegan-smiley best friend!
