Hands down the BEST churros and chocolate in Madrid. Lily recommends ordering a "porra" - like a churro but bigger and in Lily's opinion so much yummier. (Pablo prefers good old churros!)
Awesome rooftop bar with incredible views of the city. Its a little bit pricey so we don't recommend visiting for a meal, but for drink, coffee, or quick snack it is wonderful!
AMAZING typical Spanish food, and not a typical tourist trap. We absolutely love the "tortilla de betanzos" - think of an egg and potato omelette with extra runny yolk, "croquetas" - bechamel and Serrano ham breaded and deep-fried, what more could you ask for?, and the "zamburiñas a la plancha" - grilled scallops. Keep in mind that Spain is big on tapas culture, so many typical Spanish restaurants are family-style, meaning many menus (this one included) are designed to order various dishes to share among the table. Lily is still not completely used to this even after 10 years and still prefers to order a big plate of pasta with cheese all for herself :)
For guests staying in the Cuzco/Bernabeu area, this is one of Lily's fave breakfast spots. You'll find all sorts of pastries, toast on fresh bread, fruit and yogurt cups, and great coffee all for a fantastic price!
