Story
Lily and Jacob grew up a mere 5 minutes from each other, balled at JCC basketball in the same years, and even went to the same high school at different times, yet never actually met until the summer of 2020. Who do we have to thank for finally righting this wrong? Jacob's younger sister and Lily's friend, Kate.
Lily and Kate became friends when senior Lily drove freshman Kate to and from high school. Lily knew Kate had two brothers, but that was all in the abstract. Jacob knew Kate had friends, but that was all in the abstract. Kate saw a problem (brother who still wore ugly gym shorts from middle school) and a solution (friend with impeccable fashion sense), so through a carefully crafted setup by Kate, a ⟡˙perfect⋆˙⟡ match was made.
Though this story would be incomplete without a shout out to Susan, Lily's mom, who knew the Kander family, and had the foresight to suggest Lily offer Kate rides to school in 2013. If not for those rides, who knows if we'd be gathering June 13th, 2026!
