Before we were “us,” we were just two overworked bus drivers at Texas A&M University. We shared routes, long shifts, and the big transit wave! For a few years, we were simply part of each other’s transit world, never interacting outside of work. When we finally decided to start dating, it might have seemed a little insane (maybe a lot insane) considering it happened just two weeks before I moved to Houston. But sometimes the most unexpected timing turns out to be the best timing! An hour and a half apart may not sound dramatic, but it definitely required some dedication (and a solid gas budget). We became pros at planning out our weekends and squeezing every second out of the time we had together. Just to brag on my man for a second, Elliott drove all the way to Houston just to bring me soup when I was sick (he is the BEST)! It wasn’t always easy, but it made us choose intentionality, and it proved pretty quickly that we were both all in. What began with two separate routes (bus reference for our fellow transit people:)) has become one shared journey, and we can’t wait to celebrate the next stop as Mr. and Mrs. Sankus.
