How We Met

Foundations Church

Trevor moved to Berthoud, Colorado January 2019 from Austin, Texas to start a new project 30 minutes away in Fort Collins. Between Berthoud and Fort Collins, was a town called Loveland in which he started attending church at Foundations. Trevor quickly got plugged into the Young Adult ministry and even volunteered weekly with making and keeping up the coffee station in the mornings. Lilly was born and raised in Loveland, Colorado and started attending Foundations Church the fall of 2017. She quickly got plugged into the young adults group as well as volunteering with the high school students. Both Lilly and Trevor attended events, morning church services, lunches and activities for a year before going on a date with each other the winter of 2019. This is where it all began.

First Date

Thai Food and Coffee!

The winter of 2019, Trevor held many Star-Wars movie nights in which Lilly acted interested in watching. As the Star-Wars movies were coming to an end, a stronger friendship was starting and they began liking each other. Trevor finally asked Lilly on their first date, Thai food and coffee.

The Proposal

Sparks were Flying!

Lilly - Trevor and I had talked about dating with intention but it wasn't until we started having deep conversations about marriage that I began to get antsy. I don't like surprises and especially ones where my whole life would change (I am a planner). Leading up to the 4th of July, I would try and ask him questions to gage what the next year would look like and where his heart was in the process. I had made peace with God that it was out of my control and Trevor's relationship with Christ would ultimately have the perfect timing. I think this is why on the 4th I was so blind sighted by what was about to happen. Trevor had invited my best friend Allie and my parents to join in taking an open shutter picture of me and him in the dark with sparklers. He wanted one last picture where he was writing our names and I was drawing a heart. It took multiple tries and I was starting to get frustrated when the perfect picture was taken. My friend Allie asked Trevor to look at the picture and see if he liked it, he said looks perfect, "Lilly does it look good to you" I went over and what I read instead of "Lil and Trev" was "Marry Me". When I looked over at him to see if I read what I thought I read, he was on one knee proposing. Trevor - From the time I started the process of getting an engagement ring and planning a proposal, Lilly began growing antsy of learning where I was at with marriage. I had expressed that I wanted a future with her, but she hates surprises. She would send me pictures of rings she liked, even though I already had one picked out. The evening of our proposal on 4th of July when I planned to ask her, it was difficult to find the opportunity to ask her. I came up with the shutter-shock "Marry Me" sparkler idea last minute and managed to propose without spoiling the surprise.

What's Next?

Happily Ever After...

Trevor and Lilly are moving into their new apartment at 4512 Continental Hts Apt 102 in Colorado Springs after getting married. Trevor will continue to work in construction in Colorado Springs while Lilly will continue her degree online with CSU. They hope to find a permanent home in a year or two and look forward to growing closer every day.
