Beachhead is the beloved childhood vacation spot of the bride and the Matthews Family. Originally built as a hunting lodge, it was later expanded in 1969 to include pods of 2-bedroom units for the purpose of promoting family fun and fellowship. It is one of the few remaining communities in Port Aransas with unobstructed views of the Gulf of Mexico.
First and foremost, we want our guests to be comfortable. The calendar may say fall, but it's still summer in south Texas. That being said, we ask that you embrace our vintage, coastal theme! Think khaki's, sundresses, pastels and soft florals (no Hawaiian shirts please!) The beach is difficult with heels so pack your sandals for the ceremony portion. We like BLUE, but it's up to YOU! Don't forget your bathing suit for pre-wedding swimming and beach fun. Hats and sunscreen highly recommended.
We love your children, but unfortunately, we are only able to accommodate the children stated on your invitation for our events. That being said, Port Aransas is a wonderful place for families. Should you choose to make a family vacation out of our celebration, please plan for their childcare during our events.
Guests will have the option to enjoy an open bar at our welcome party and wedding reception. We will feature signature cocktails, mixed drinks, as well as an assortment of beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages. Throughout your stay in Port Aransas, we kindly ask that you comply with the local and state guidelines regarding alcohol consumption and glass at Beachhead Condominiums, on the beach or near pools. Don't Mess with Texas ya'll!
Of course! We anticipate that some guests may choose to utilize local hotels or another form of vacation rental. Harry Collins at Port A Escapes is eager to assist with alternative accommodations including Sea Isle Village and many other properties. You must mention you are with the Trussell/Matthews wedding party in order to receive special rates. Please see our travel page for additional information.
In the event of a hurricane or other severe inclement weather, we may be forced to postpone our celebration. While a hurricane is unlikely, please clarify the refund policy when you book travel and accommodations. Travel insurance is also an affordable option. Now, please stop reading this and knock on some wood for goodness sakes!
