Our Story

Lilly and I met a few years before we actually started dating and we had no idea what God had in store for us especially considering the positions we were in at the time. Two years later we reunited at church and I was head over heels for her so we started talking and hanging out. I told her my feelings for her and she friendzoned me… so I waited a little long and we kept talking and hanging out and I told her again… she friendzoned me again. Homecoming season started to roll around and I wanted to ask her to go so I did. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to go so she talked to her mom and Mrs. Lesli said something to the extent of “this poor boy wants to be with you so bad the least you can do is go to homecoming with him”. We went to the dance and after that I knew that it was starting to become more than just a talking stage. On October 9th I asked her to go to the Cumming fair with me and later that night before I got the chance she asked me to be her boyfriend right before I was going to ask her to be my girlfriend. Since then we have been through a lot of hard times but also plenty of great times. God has been so good to us in our relationship and through our lives. On March 23rd I proposed to her to get married and now on October 9th of 2025 we’re getting married! God is so good and always has been and always will be. - Christian Growing up home-schooled, Christian and I often ran in the same circle of friends. We both attended the same dances and parties before ever noticing one another. After being acquaintances for a little over a year, Christian and I began hanging out more and getting along great. As the days went on, I could tell Christian was showing more and more interest in me. I was nervous because I really loved Christian and I's friendship, and didn't want to mess that up. He finally admitted to liking me and I sent him right to the friend-zone. However, he kept pursuing me and day after day showed me the kind of man he was. He picked my little sister and I up and took us to church, would take all my friends out for ice cream after, he even brought coffee for my best friend (and now Maid of Honor) and I the morning after a homecoming dance. One day, Christian and I were trying to get a group of people to go to the fair but everyone was busy. I mentioned to my mom that we were still planning to go and she asked if it was a date and I strongly insisted it was not. She began to lay out to me exactly why Christian was an amazing guy and why I should make it a date. During this conversation it was like a veil was lifted from my eyes and I knew I totally liked him and I had no idea what I had been doing all this time. We went to the fair and I asked him to be my boyfriend and he said, "Dang it! I was going to ask you to be my girlfriend on the Ferris Wheel!" I basically ruined his moment, but nevertheless, we made it official on October 9th, 2022. We had absolutely no idea what the next year of our relationship would bring. There were incredibly dark moments, but nothing can come close to the restoration and healing that came to follow. We did not deserve it by any means, but God displayed His love for us in ways that we could have never imagined. This relationship has acted as a small illustration of Lamentations 3:22-23, "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness". By the grace of God, Christian proposed on March 23rd, 2025, and we are overjoyed to become husband and wife on October 9th, 2025, our third anniversary. How blessed are we to be a display of Christ's love for His church. We pray our marriage is a source of life and a tool to advance the Kingdom of God for as long as we both shall live. I love Christian Riley May with my entire heart. He is incredibly strong, kind to everyone he meets, always puts me before him, and I cannot wait to become his wife :) - Lilly
