The John Wayne Airport is on the border of Irvine and Santa Ana. It is small and easy to navigate, but it can be more expensive than LAX. LAX is an hour to an hour and a half away from Irvine, depending on traffic. Traffic is the worst coming from LA from 7:00 am-9:30 am and 3:00 pm-7:30/8:00 pm.
